A blog is basically a journal (or diary) that is available online on the web. "A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a website with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order." (from Wikipedia) Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.
The main purpose of this blog is to provide the content of the church's monthly newsletter for easier reading and researching and also tries to keep a record of the Sunday services. Other important events can also be recorded so that it functions like a diary. On most articles, the comment function will allow the readers to add their own thoughts.
For every newsletter, there will be one article entered on the first day of each month, which lists the content and shows which contributions are available online. A link to the original newsletter document (PDF) for downloading (and printing) is also provided.
Please use the comment function underneath most of the entries for comments, additions, suggestions etc. To post a comment, just enter your name and any email address (doesn't have to be a "real" one!), you don't have to fill out "URI" (which would be your homepage). To prevent spam messages, you also have to enter a text displayed in a picture.
You can also register yourself to make further participation easier, those fields will then be pre-filled. To register, click on "Register" in the left column (way down!) and fill in the details. An email will be sent to you automatically with a confirmation.
Usage and Navigation Hints:
In the left column, you will find a list of categories, which are derived from the Newsletter. Clicking on one of them will show you all entries under that category.
In the right column, you will find a calender feature, which allows you to go directly to a certain day or a certain month and see all entries from that time frame. Here you will also find the search field. Enter any word or a combination of words to find articles containing those.
If you are using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, you can use the "Subscribe to this Page" in your "Bookmarks" menu, to have an automatically updated list of recents entries from the EEC blog in your Firefox bookmarks. Ask Matthias for a demonstration!
You can also listen to the text by clicking on the "Listen"-button underneath each entry, but only when displaying the full atricle, ie. after clicking on the "Read on..." link or the title.
