Thanks for the good post. I have myself read the parts in "The Shack" where the author teaches everyone is saved. Although I cannot see the author's heart (only God can), judging by what he writes in this book (specifically the 10 points you raised), he does not know God and is not a Christian. If I met him I hope God would give me the courage to call him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

The fact that it is so popular in modern Evangelicalism and is being actively promoted by much of it, even though it teaches a false Trinity, outright denies hell and teaches that all are saved, shows the depths to which Evangelicalism has fallen. Anything is apparently up for grabs. May God have mercy.

I think I understand where you are coming from, but I don't think you can get a truthful understanding about "who God really is" from a book that paints a wrong picture about Him because it re-invents God in an effort to make Him more "human".

You are agreeing with me that "not everything in this book is biblically correct" - but then you go on to say that you learned from this book "who God really is". So how can you be sure that what you learned from "The Shack" (i.e. who God really is) is biblical if the rest isn't? In other words, if I admit that some parts of "The Shack" are wrong, how do I know which aren't?

- - -

Admittedly in another context, Rom 9:20 says this - "But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?'"

What "The Shack" basically trying to do is to re-"form God" (or re-define God) instead of being formed (defined) by Him. To me, that is the very definition of Religion.

This book actually helped em grapple with God alot. In a time where I couldn't see God I saw him in this book. Not everything in this book is "biblically" correct but it does get the reader to use their head and mind to grapple with who God really is. I would recommend it to friends both christian and non christian alike.
