Easter Sunday Sunrise
Well, no sooner had we laid our heads on the pillow (or so it seemed!) after a late night on the streets than it was time to be up again for a quick cup of coffee and out of the door with the Duffy’s to pick up Samara and Ezrah and head for Mooghaun Fort. As we drove, there was happy chatter in the car (mainly Ezrah!) and a sense of excitement and anticipation of what was to come.
The walk from the car park up to the fort was beautiful - I loved the birch trees, the bird song, the moon, and the sense of being in an ancient place! Soon we were joined by others - eighteen of us in all. The view from the staging was wonderful and, as the sky was lightening, I could imagine how Mary and the other women must have felt, going early in the morning to the tomb, and how their sorrow must have turned to amazement and joy when they found the tomb empty and learned that Jesus was alive.
And what a joy for us too on this Easter Sunday to be able to sing praises to the Lord, consider verses of Scripture and to proclaim that "Jesus Christ is risen" in our different languages (Irish, English, Latvian, Spanish, Nigerian and Afrikaans). Alleluia!
Finally, the sun rose out of the mist, photos were taken, and we happily walked back to the cars.
Thank you to Tim for leading us in worship and to the Brennans for the wonderful breakfast that followed and the opportunity for fellowship before Sunday service.

I was so glad that once again I made myself get up early to head to moughan. As i lay in bed saturday night i was thinking ….is this how Mary Magdalene and the other women felt on the night before the first Easter morning. Were they, like me thinking “why did I say I’d meet the others early, I really don’t want to go”. Then worrying would i wake up in time. Is that what they were also thinking? Then as I walked later through the woods I was, like Maddy, thinking back to those women and thanking God that I already knew “He is not here, He is risen!!” All I had to wonder was ..will I see the sun? And despite some peoples lack of faith! we did indeed see the sun, and i came away from moughan thanking God for once again for the privilege of being able to see the sun rise, and also to remember “His Son Rise”. God is Good… all the time.
