2009 April News in Brief

Easter Sunrise! - Meet at  Tim & June’s or go straight to Mooghaun Fort, Newmarket on Fergus on Easter Sunday in time to see the sunrise at approx. 06.45. Prayer & worship before normal Sunday service.

Watch this space for some pictures from the sunrise outing!

6 Months in Ireland - 15 year-old Klara, a Christian from the northern Black Forest region of Germany, with three brothers and one sister, wants to spend half a year here going to school. She says: “I’m looking for a Christian family who could accommodate me from Sept 2009 to Feb 2010 and of course I don’t expect to stay for free.” Please contact Klara if you can help. Her email address is klara"dot"schubert"at"web"dot"de, or contact Matthias. He knows Klara’s parents, should you wish to know more about the family.

Let’s Declare - having read Sylvester’s article on the power and importance of declaring God’s word, what do you think about having a verse or short passage printed in this newsletter each month? I imagine it would be chosen by the Elders and we ALL would declare it each day during our regular quiet times, private devotions or even at prayer meetings. The idea is that it would become the corporate declaration of the EEC body for the month.

Munster Christian Camps - Easter Camps 2009 coming soon: seniors 9-13th April, intermediates 13-17th April & juniors 10-13th April.

  1. To have a Bible verse or passage each month as a kind of “motto” would be really great. I would appreciate something like this and I think it would help us to focus corporately as a Church on God’s Word and its authority in our lives.

However, a concept of “declaring” words with the effect of releasing a certain power is foreign to the Bible, in my humble opinion.

What we are asked to do continuously, however, are two things:
    - preaching the gospel
    - and pray!

Ps 37:1-40 shows us: we need to trust in the Lord and in Him only and He will deal with all our enemies.
Eph 6:10-20 aks us to put on the full armour of God, which is sufficient in any battle we might have as Christians.

  2. Matthias, could you, perhaps, raise the issue of a corporate ‘memory verse’ next time you meet with the Elders? Someone would have to choose it and it seems that the Elders would be best …

  3. I did raise that issue. Let’s see what the outcome will be.
