News from Afar - Mira & Eric
All glory to God! We have now been married for six months, and we want to joyfully proclaim to you that every second of our marriage has been the result of God’s sovereign grace and mercy! We can honestly say that we love each other more now than ever before!
God has richly blessed us with a three bedroom rental home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, very close to our church (Virginia Beach Community Chapel). God has also richly blessed us with the opportunity to help with the youth and college ministries in our church. Eric is currently working as an engineer and serving as the interim youth pastor at our church, where God continues to give him strength and wisdom. He also helps lead “Swell” (the church’s college fellowship). Sadly, the world seems to be pulling many of the young adults away from these ministries, but we are trusting in God that He will do a mighty work! Please pray for us (especially Eric) in this area.
I (Eric) have been transitioning into my role as a husband with much help and grace from God. 1 Timothy 1:15 says, “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst.” I am learning that one of the greatest enemies in marriage is my own sin. I desire to be a husband who is humbly able to admit in my wife’s presence that I am a worse sinner than she and is quick to examine myself before jumping to incorrect conclusions. I have learned that daily confession to God and a growing sensitivity to the sin in my own life are absolute essentials. How great is the grace, mercy and forgiveness of our great Saviour, Jesus Christ!
I (Mira) have been transitioning into my role as a wife. It’s all very new to me! I am learning more and more to be the kind of wife God calls me to be in His word - especially respecting my husband! I have been decorating our home, learning to cook, and am minding children here and there. I am also slowly finding some very good friends! About a month ago, I received my work documents from the U.S. Government and have been accepted to work as a florist! I just don’t know if I want to do that right now since I would have to work some Saturdays and come home at six during the week; but I want to be with Eric! I feel like that is kind of my responsibility right now. I am currently praying and talking to people about which direction I should take in my work life; right now my dream is to be a doula (like a midwife, they just don’t take care of the medical side of things). Please pray for me there!
We miss all of you at EEC! Be blessed and we will see you at Christmas!
Love in Christ,
Eric & Mira
